There's a good onramp for hitchhiking. The spot is just outside central Paris and easy reachable by public transport from Gare du Nord (ticket costs about 2 euro 40). Go to RER station "la plaine stade de france" (take RER line B, the blue line). From here it's perhaps 1 km walking. After getting out through the exit gates of the RER, you can find a map of the area about 50 meters on your right (you may be able to find a shorter route as I suggest here). Go north past the big stadium until you get to the water. Take the bridge which is on your left and continue north again. Soon you'll get to the road. You can see the road signs saying Lille etc. on the bigger road. There's plenty of stopping place here, although I myself prefer a stopping place earlier on the road because the traffic is less speedy. To get there, walk down the road until you get to another bridge. Around here you should be able to find a nice spot. Personally I hitched here once with a sign saying Lille - it took 5 minutes to get out. I know a handful of people who also (succesfully and regularly) hitchhike here.

Dont try to find a car at the onramp to the A2 after the Stadium! There is a lot of (fast) traffic and the cars can not stop! I tried it there and after 2 hours of always walking to find a good spot I gave up. Where is it exactly????

Cars are indeed speedy. But you may find a nice spot by looking around. There are also a lot of traffic lights and the density of cars going on the A1 is high. Took me 45 minutes today. But im still unsure wether it was the place or the french people ;)
