The plan is to hitchhike on an entrance of the ringway. It's not far by metro and from the metro station it's about 500 meters walking.
Go to the metro station Porte d'Orleans; it's the southern end of (pink) line 4 (ticket costs 1 euro 40). Take the furthest exit, turn right, cross the bridge which goes over the ringway. Turn left after the ringroad. You wil get to another bridge over the ringway. Right after this bridge is the entrance to the ringroad. Walk on the entrance, ignoring the no-pedestrians sign (at your own risk - please
be carefull!). Just before the road connects to the ring there is a good stopping place for cars (marked by white stripes). I've hitched here two times with an worn old pizza box sign saying 'A6' - it worked like a charm! It's a reasonably popular spot and you might meet other hitchhikers here.
Alternatively (if the police asks you to move) you can hitch just before the 'no-walking' sign. There's a place on the left of the road where cars can stop.

DONT! The place is always crowded with other hitch hikers (which is fun but unhelpful), and most drivers are just going to work close by and wont take you. A nice idea would be to write an "Ikea" sign, cause loads of people are going to work there and know the place, and the ikea is 50meters away from the first A6 gas station, aire des Lisses (which you can also join by public transports, though: rer D to villabe, then walk or bus 415 or 405 to lisses)
