You might be lazy and think you can HH north as you do south staying at one of the 'Portes':
DO NOT GO THERE ! A LOT OF TRAFIC AND THE CARS CAN'T REALLY STOP ! USE THE OTHER GREAT SPOTS ON THIS WEBSITE.

i think the second comment about Senlis is a comment of a troll because Senlis has NO trainor RER station,so the A1 passing by is not too useful.
the next train is 10 km away to the west
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senlis_(Oise) , the first comment i can not judge but sounds no go as well from looking at google maps

No it's not a troll: Senlis has no train station but you can still buy a train ticket to Senlis! Actually the train goes to Chantilly and after that you do the rest with a bus, the train ticket is valid for this bus and the bus station ("gare routière") is right outside the train station of Chantilly.
Once there, you need to walk a little and you'll find a "péage" (highway payment station - people have to stop to take a ticket). The bus driver gave me the direction. Worked fine.
